1.at sb’s suggestion：根据或人的主张，可与on sb‘s advice这个词组作同义替换；

在这个意思上,specialty可与major(vi) in，major（n.）作同义替换；

比方,今后我们在写英文简历或进行毛遂自荐时,就可以用这几种表达方法来介绍自个所学专业,比方:

i?majored in?computer science.

i’m a computer?major.

my?speciality?is computer science.

2）specialty有一个熟词僻义，即(某个当地的)特征食物，特产；?a?specialty?of a particular place is a special food or product that is always very good there.

e.g.regional specialties当地特产

specialty stores特产商铺

seafood, paella, empanadas and other specialties.

海鲜、西班牙肉菜饭、南美肉馅卷饼和其他特征食物

这个词有个近义词gourmet?adj.gourmet food (= of high quality and often expensive)甘旨好菜，美食。

那么，咱们在表达当地特征食物，特产时也可以这样说local gourmet food;

4.?lanzhou hand-pulled beef noodles：兰州拉面

这儿咱们谈谈我国菜的英文表达。我们都晓得，咱们我国有8大菜系、菜品丰厚、更有煎，炒，烹，炸，煮，熬，炖，溜，烧，汆等花式做法。

而菜名也一般独具匠心，富含当地特征，兼具中华文明见识，因而，我国菜名的翻译一向是个另人头疼的疑问

联系文中兰州拉面的英译，咱们可以看出，一般我国菜的翻译要体现几个中心要素，即材料、做法、口味和产地（假定原菜名中有）。

我们今后有机缘向老外介绍我国菜或写作介绍我国当地特征时可以使用这一原则。比方这句中的：

兰州拉面lanzhou hand-pulled beef noodles（产地lanzhou+做法hand-pulled+材料beef noodles）

再如：

糖醋里脊sweet-and-sour pork（酸甜口味+材料猪肉）

宫保鸡丁spicy diced chicken with peanuts（辣味+做法切丁+材料鸡肉配花生）

又如：

2.in line：在这儿是排队的意思，one behind another in a line or queue；

e.g.they waited in line for the tickets.

排队的其它同义表达为:in a queue; queue up for, line up for, line up to do；

3.?chili sauce：辣椒酱

4.slurp?[sl?:rp]：n./v.啧啧吃的声响，啜食,类似中文里的象声词；

e.g.1)he was slurping his tea.

他正咂着嘴喝茶。（牛津）

2)he takes a?slurp?from a cup of black coffee.

他咕嘟喝了一口清咖啡。《柯林斯高阶英汉双解学习词典》

5.?steaming?adj.我们都了解其名词方法stream蒸汽、水蒸汽的意思；steaming作为描述词，

1）其基原意思为冒热气的，非常热的；

e.g.the?waiter?appeared?like?magic?from?the?kitchen?with?a?steaming?hot?lunch.

效能员像变幻术似地从厨房里端出一份热火朝天的午饭。《汉英大词典》

lucy?and?i?were?far?away?in?a?steaming?hot?village?walkingthrough?narrow?streets.?

我和lucy去过一个偏僻又炽热的村庄，在狭隘的大街上漫步。

2)?steaming还有一个引申义，即非常愤恨的very angry，可以愿望一下，气得快冒烟了的感触；

比方，《经济学人》在论及美国加州民主党对立联邦权力的斗争时,这样说道:

california?steaming?democrats?are?learning?to?invoke?states’?rights.?america’s?most?progressive?state?is?set?to?lead?the?new?fight?against?federal?power.

愤恨的加州民主党人正在学习援引各州的权力。美国这一最前进的州将建议对立联邦权力的新斗争。
